UK Buy-outs - Annual Trends
The UK buy-out market continues to be buffeted from the intense problems in the banking sector and has recorded a total of £17.1 billion at the end of the third quarter of 2008. This follows a period of strong market growth when value rose from just £16 billion in 2003 to a staggering record value of £45.9 billion in 2007. The latest value although well down on last year is only four per cent below the corresponding period in 2006. Buy-out numbers are at a similar level to last year with 503 in the first nine months of 2008 compared to 672 for the whole of 2007.
